“It’s not the staff we thought we had this season,” Roberts said. “But we still feel what we’re doing and what we’ve done in the past because we’ve been hurt, we’re not. And I say it means moving ahead of the batsman and staying at the ballpark.

“Obviously we’re getting a bit of a hit on the pitching side of things. I think the offense is going well, but we had to make sure our defense was tight enough to give the pitcher the best chance to succeed when he gets that opportunity.”

As for position players, they have dealt with their own injuries. Most recently, Hyson Kim lost a flyball in the first inning of his final loss on Monday evening during his first MLB start at center field.

The rank third in the majors with 18 errors committed. This cannot be completely defensive as LA’s total ERA is 9th highest in baseball at the 4.28 mark. But after losing six of the last 10 games in a row before Tuesday night, the frustration is getting stronger.

Patience is the name of the game that moves forward, as the do what they can to do until the pitchers are fully energized.
