Raheem Sterling’s departure from Chelsea has shaken up the transfer market.
The England winger is currently a free agent and his agent is in talks with several clubs.
Multiple clubs are interested in Raheem Sterling
According to officials, catch off side Tottenham are interested, but they are not the only ones. London’s rivals West Ham, Fulham and Crystal Palace are also in the race, with Sterling’s desire to remain in London for family reasons giving London an advantage.
Marco Silva’s links with Fulham, Palace’s team plans and West Ham’s need for attacking depth all make him an attractive option. Brentford have also been mentioned, but financial constraints have dimmed their chances.
The key factor is Mr. Sterling’s willingness to accept a significant pay cut. He earns €375,000 a week at Chelsea and is prepared to sign for less than a third of that amount.
This flexibility has also attracted interest from overseas, with the likes of Juventus, Napoli, Bayern Munich and Roma monitoring the situation. MLS clubs have also made approaches, but Sterling’s priority is to remain at the top level and ideally join a team competing in the Champions League.
Tottenham move could be ideal for Sterling
Sterling should consider joining a club where he plays regularly. He has struggled to play regular football in recent months. His time at Chelsea did not go as planned. He played in 81 games, scoring 19 goals and providing 15 assists. He will aim to get back to his best in regular football. There is no doubt that he could be a very effective signing with the right team. He has great quality and a lot of experience playing at the highest level.
Tottenham need a dynamic attacker who can play multiple roles and contribute with goals and assists. The England International could be ideal for them.
He has won major trophies, including the Premier League, and his experience could be invaluable to Tottenham.
