Tottenham isn’t too far from winning the Europa League, but if they do, they’ll be grateful to Mickey Van de Ben.

Tottenham has an advantage in Bilbao, courtesy of Brennan Johnson’s poor opener who came just before halftime. Neither side could play good football, but Ange Postecoglou, his players and the club’s supporters don’t mind as long as they come full time.

And if it remains 1-0, Van de Ven will be as heroic as Johnson. In the 68th minute, he left the effort from Rasmus Hozilund off the line following an error from Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vialio.

For Tottenham, he sits in 17th place at the Premier League table and in 17th place in one game. And this has raised pressure on manager Ange Postecoglou, who previously commented on rumors that he could be fired, even if his side would win in the Europa League.

But all of these struggles are forgotten if Tottenham can see the rest of the money without acknowledging it. Not only will they secure that elusive trophy, they will also secure their place in the Champions League next season, which will bring great benefits to the summer transfer window.

There’s still a lot to do for Tottenham, but if they can keep Man United at bay and win the Europa League final, their players will be immortal. And this is especially the case with Van des Ben, the reason why his side is still ahead in Saint Mamems.
