In Edmonton, Alberta, Quinn Hughes contributed a goal and an assist, helping the Minnesota Wild to a 7-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night. This win extended Minnesota’s defense scoring streak to eight games, setting a new franchise record. Along with Hughes, Joel Eriksson Ek, Mats Zuccarello, and Brock Faber each scored and assisted, marking Minnesota’s third straight win and their fifth consecutive game earning points. Other Wild goal scorers included Kirill Kaprizov, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Tyler Pitlick, while Jesper Wallstedt made 39 saves. For Edmonton, Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Jack Roslovic scored, ending their three-game winning streak. Oilers’ goalie Tristan Jarry allowed five goals on 20 shots before being replaced by Connor Ingram, who made seven saves. The Oilers have struggled with penalty kills lately, conceding two power-play goals to Minnesota and allowing six points on 14 penalties over the last four games. The game was tied 2-2 after the first period, but Minnesota dominated in the second, scoring three consecutive goals to take control. The Wild’s debut goal of the second period came just 35 seconds in, thanks to a faceoff win by Ryan Hartman, who then passed to Zuccarello, whose shot went over Jarry’s glove for a 3-2 lead. Draisaitl briefly rejoined the game after leaving early in the second period but finished. Evan Bouchard also had a standout performance, with four goals and eight assists across the period, extending his point streak to four games. The Wild completed a clean sweep of the three-game season series against the Oilers. Looking ahead, the Wild will host the Montreal Canadiens on Monday, while the Oilers will face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.
