Wrexham have ‘signed a £1m deal’ for their new striker, who has scored twice in the Championship this season.
Parkinson is overjoyed by Wrexham’s determination.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said his team must show real quality after beating Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 at Hillsborough at the weekend.
Sam Smith’s fourth goal in six Championship games was enough to put the Red Dragons back in the play-off places after Derby beat Bristol City on Friday night.
“These games are never simple,” Parkinson said. “I spoke to the players yesterday about the games we’ve played over the last four years, in similar situations, against teams at the bottom of the table, and almost every game has had a similar feel.”
“I’m very happy because today we had to show real quality to win. That moment of quality came with a great move from the right. It was a great cross from Issa (Kabore) and Sam did what he was supposed to do in the six-yard box.”
“In the first half, Wednesday we fell into a low block quickly and sometimes it’s hard to break it down. We have to show patience and I felt we were able to do that.”
“There were some really important moments for us, especially when Matty (James)’s clearance at the one end went off the line.

“We really had to get the three points today. We had chances, but so did Sheffield Wednesday, they played with real pride and we came here with full respect for them. We had to stay focused at the back to see the game through.”
“We are happy for Sam. He was given a chance over the Christmas period and he grabbed it. He is a real predator in the box for us. They have been in the game all season so we knew it would be difficult today but in the end we found the breakthrough.”
Wrexham are currently ‘preparing’ a serious offer for former Premier League defender

Wrexham to sign Sheffield Wednesday star Cadamartelli in £1m deal
In Sky’s Deadline Day report, the studio presenter revealed that the Red Dragons are looking to hand Parkinson a new weapon.
“This news was relayed to me just a few minutes ago. Wrexham are close to signing Sheffield Wednesday striker Bailey Cadamartelli on a £1 million deal. It is understood that both clubs are still discussing the specific details of the transfer, but Wrexham are hopeful that the 20-year-old will be able to arrive for a medical later today.”
Cadamartelli has played 30 games in all competitions for the Owls this season, scoring two goals, and has drawn praise from former England manager Steve McLaren, who played under the Jamaican national team manager.
“We found what we would call a nugget in terms of young players. There is no better player than Cadamartelli. When we brought in a young player like Cadamartelli without Warner Brown, who was our first choice, he did a great job,” the 64-year-old said.
“In order to win we have to act effectively and score goals and he can do that in addition to his work rate and running. I think he has performed great for us in the first two games and considering he hasn’t been on our radar for the last three weeks, he has pushed himself and gotten his fair reward. I’m really happy.”
