George Carl throws shade at Michael Malone over Nicola Jokic

Michael Malone isn’t just the former Nuggets head coach who put a strong emphasis on the discussion between Shy Gilgauss Alexander vs. MVP of Nicola Jokic.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has finally been announced as MVP for the 2024-25 NBA season. His victory was largely confirmed after a great season for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Giannis Antetokounmpo enjoyed how obvious Shai’s MVP victory was. But while it may have been, it is still a monumental moment.

One of the big topics coming out of Game 1 between the Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves was Michael Malone’s comments on the MVP race.

Malone, who had sang Nikola Jokic’s praises as MVP just a few months ago, appeared to have switched his MVP vote to Shay Gilgauss Alexander after his nugget fired. But not all former nugget coaches agree.

George Carl was appointed X after the announcement of Shay Gilgas Alexander’s MVP victory. Unlike Malone, Carl disagrees with this decision.

He pointed out that Nikola Djokic should have won his fourth MVP award, and felt he was the obvious and only winner.

“Jokic has been the MVP again this season, but it wasn’t that close. But I think I’m the only former Nuggets coach who knows that.”

Karl has long been a strong advocate for Nikola Djokic. He has shown the last few years, not only for his Nuggets Association but also for his level of play.

Jokic was once again the MVP this season, but it wasn’t that close.

But I think I’m the only former Nuggets coach who knows that.

Are there any valid arguments that Nikola Djokic will make to win? of course. Jokic was a statistical anomaly, and there was an even more fantastic season in terms of numbers.

But considering the SGA led the NBA in scoring and did that while leading Thunder to the best record in the NBA, he was an atmospheric favorite.

Last season, shy numbers and healthy regular season records were not enough to surpass Jokic in the MVP poll.

But for Shy, this victory has come for a long time. Whatever you think of him as a player, it’s hard to resist his victory.
