Vancouver Canucks Coach Adam Foote Opens Up About Filip Chytil’s Ejection During Clash with Utah Mammoth

Vancouver Canucks forward Filip Sitil did not finish their game on Monday night due to health concerns. Head coach Adam Foote explained that the 26-year-old was removed after the second period because of a recurrence of migraine headaches over the past few games. Foote also mentioned that it’s unlikely Sitil will be able to play in Wednesday’s final game before the 2026 Winter Olympics. There was some confusion regarding another player, Chytil, with Foote stating he “tweaked something,” but expressing hope it wasn’t a head injury. Sitil played only 7 minutes and 36 seconds before leaving, with his last shift ending about four minutes into the second period.

Recently returning from a three-month break due to a head injury, Sitil has appeared in six games since his comeback, including Monday’s loss to the Utah Mammoths. Over those six games, he has recorded no points, taken nine shots on goal, and averaged approximately 14 minutes of ice time per game.

The Canucks’ last pre-Olympic game is scheduled for Wednesday against the Vegas Golden Knights, marking their first meeting of the season with this team. The game is set for 7:00 PM PT.

Fans are encouraged to follow THN’s Vancouver Canucks coverage for updates, exclusive interviews, and community engagement. Additional recent headlines include news about two Canucks wingers preparing to compete through the 2026 Winter Olympics, updates on the team’s 2023-24 All-Star roster, and an analysis of Tom Wilander’s increasing ice time with Vancouver.

Fan Take: This development highlights the ongoing health concerns players face and underscores the importance of player safety in hockey. It also suggests that Sitil’s health will be a key factor in how the Canucks manage their roster moving forward, which is crucial for fans following the team’s season trajectory and player well-being.
