Bruno Guimarães has been an outstanding player since joining Newcastle United and has been linked with a possible move over the past few seasons.

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has hinted that the Brazilian could be on the move soon. He believes Guimarães wants to compete at the highest level and the opportunity to join Europe’s elite club will be hard to pass up.

However, the German explained that the player has settled in well at Newcastle and would not be surprised if he decided to stay for a season or two.

A player of his quality would want to win major trophies on a regular basis. Newcastle have an ambitious project but are not yet at that level.

Haman on Bruno Guimarães

Hamann said (h/t Chronicle Live): “Without a doubt, the best players want to play in the Champions League. Money is also important, but it is not the deciding factor. He will be well paid in the North East.”

“But the Champions League, along with the World Cup, is a trophy that every player wants to win. You can’t win it if you’re not in the Champions League, and if Bruno Guimarães decides he can see himself elsewhere, every club in the Champions League in England will be interested in him. The two Spanish giants will also be interested.”

“I think Bruno can choose his club depending on how much Newcastle want him, but he seems very settled in the North East.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he played at least another season at Newcastle, maybe even a few more, even if he didn’t make the Champions League.”

Newcastle are looking to build a strong team for the future and losing their best midfielder will be a huge blow. It will be interesting to see if they can persuade the player to remain at the club for the time being.

The Brazilian is certainly talented enough to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, and it will be interesting to see if any team offers him the option of leaving in the summer.
