Man City star makes key decision in Carabao Cup final to boost Arsenal

“I paid a lot of money to buy a player, but he can’t play according to rules that I don’t understand. If possible, I’d like them to change it.”

“I said to the club that I would have to ask. I don’t understand why he can’t play in the final in March when I’ve been here so long.”

“The rules for acquiring players depend on what FIFA, UEFA and the Premier League say. The transfer market is open, when you buy a player you have to play, no? That’s logic. Of course we’re going to ask him to play. Pure logic.”

Arsenal build momentum from the start in the Carabao Cup final

Even if Guehi is not particularly likely to be cleared to play, this is a bit of a boost for Arsenal as they prepare to face City at Wembley next month.

Mikel Arteta’s side are desperate to end their six-year wait for a trophy, and even if this season hasn’t been their best, beating this City team will not be easy.

Any reinforcements they get will be welcome, as City have had some recent injuries in defence, which could cost them dearly in a big game like this.

That is why Guehi was signed from Crystal Palace in January, and Guardiola will no doubt be furious at not being able to use the England international in what will be one of his team’s most important games all season.
