Dayot Upamecano has reportedly reached an agreement to extend his contract with Bayern Munich, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. Teams that were hoping to sign him for free this summer have now been notified, marking the conclusion of a lengthy and somewhat dramatic period regarding his future.

Negotiations between Upamecano and Bayern had been protracted, leaving the defender’s options open. Real Madrid and Liverpool had shown interest, especially considering the potential loss of Ibrahima Konate at the end of the season without a transfer fee. Ultimately, the 27-year-old will continue at the Allianz Arena, signing a new four-year deal. Upamecano joined Bayern from RB Leipzig, where he played alongside Konate, and has since made 178 appearances for Bayern, netting six goals and providing eleven assists.
