It was a strong season for Enzo Fernandez wearing a Chelsea shirt. Argentina International, who joined the club in 2023, was a major key player under his same name, Enzo Maresca, despite a period when the campaign began when it was not the first option in the middle.

In all competitions, he made 44 appearances, scored seven goals and scored 13 assists. Of these target involvement, 13 competed in 35 Premier Leagues. He is also the Blues captain this semester, leading them with a total of 29 appearances.

These impressive performances are clearly eye-catching, with Fernandez linking with the shock movement that left Stanford Bridge this summer.

The latest in the future of Enzo Fernandez

For Fernandez, it’s been an interesting few weeks for Fernandez, who is reportedly an important target for one of Europe’s biggest club Real Madrid.

The former Benfica star was first linked to Los Blancos by Team Talc in March. This summer, Fernandez reportedly “was very interested in moving to Madrid.”

These days, West London Club fans can hear about it. Fabrizio Romano, a highly reputable journalist, said that after the Santiago Bernabéu’s interest, Todd Bouley and Co are desperate to maintain the World Cup winner.

A news article from one Spain outlet appears to have revealed the potential price tag for Fernandez this summer. If Madrid wants to inherit the contract, the eye-opening amount that the Blues want, especially £122 million.

Romano suggests that Chelsea doesn’t want to lose his vice captain, but there may be a ready-made alternative in the pipeline and ready to step in if he leaves.

Chelsea’s internal Fernandez replacement

The midfielder is only 21 years old and hasn’t been mentioned as a “complete” midfielder, but that’s exactly what football analyst Ben Matinson said about Andrei Santos.

The Brazilian, who signed the £18 million region in January 2023, is still in Chelsea books, but is now available for loan in Strasbourg, the French side.

It was a season for the former Basco da Gama midfielder born in Rio de Janeiro. He was featured in 34 games in all competitions from the center of the park, scoring 11 times and registering five assists.

In League One on the Strasbourg side, impressed throughout the campaign, he was able to hit a double goal, one of the club’s two players. The tenth was a special strike in the final match of the season in a 2-2 draw with Lehuble.

Between Fernandez and Santos, Chelsea has two players with very similar profiles. Look at the positions they played this season. Fernandez played as No. 8 for the most part, playing 28 times in that role, six times six times. As for the Strasbourg star, he played 24 times as a sixth.

In fact, looking at the statistics this season, their profile seems to be in good condition. They are all-action midfielders who can pop up on regular goals, create opportunities and bring some impressive changes without the ball.

FBREF has numbers that reinforce the fact that they are very similar, and Santos is definitely superior. For example, he averages 0.32 goals and 5.93 balls per 90 minutes compared to Fernandez’s 0.19 goals and 4.83 balls per game.

Called “Monster” in Mattinson’s midway through, Santos appears to be able to hold himself on the Chelsea side if necessary and replace Fernandez. He beats him with some key statistics and combines more goals to support this season.

If Boehly and Co lose Fernandez, Chelsea fans certainly have to feel a safe hand.
