LeBron James broke Michael Jordan’s unique record after finishing sixth in the 2024-25 NBA MVP race.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, despite being the oldest player in the league, refuses to show any major signs of decline.

In fact, in his 22nd year, LBJ averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game over 70 matchups in the regular season.

The King helped the Lakers win the third seed in the Western Conference. James’ excellence was not noticed as the 40-year-old won the spot in the 2024-25 NBA MVP race.

NBA legend Michael Jordan has retired for over 20 years, but he still remains part of many major debates about the league.

Most obvious is LeBron’s place in the goat discussion. Every time someone tries to claim that the LBJ is a goat, they are immediately fired back at the Jordanian point.

Despite this, James continues to break NBA records. Speaking of which, James finished sixth in the 2024-25 NBA MVP poll.

At 40, he is now the oldest player in league history and has earned regular season MVP votes. Previously, this record was held by Jordan. Jordan finished 13th in the 2001-2002 MVP race.

James currently holds a unique record as he has both MVP votes at the oldest (40) and youngest (19).

James and the Lakers were sensational in the regular season, but the same cannot be said for the 2025 postseason.

As the third seed, they took on the sixth seed Minnesota Timber Wolves, but ended up losing the 4-1 series in the first round.

According to data provided by Sofa Core, James increased 25.4 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game against the Timberwolves.

These are elite numbers, particularly considering James was 40 years old and played 70 games during the regular season.
