According to the latest reports, members of the Lewis family are keen for Tottenham to appoint a title-winning manager to replace Thomas Frank.

Spurs’ disastrous bet on the Dane came crashing down this morning with club bosses finally terminating his contract.

The decision follows an eight-month reign that became completely unsustainable due to persistent supporter protests and a dismal Premier League performance that saw the Lilywhites sit just five points above the drop zone.

Newcastle’s 2-1 humiliation on Tuesday was the final straw for a board already reeling from a fan revolt, with an angry Tottenham Hotspur Stadium crowd chanting “fired in the morning” throughout the dismal performance.

Frank’s tenure provides damning statistical evidence to justify his removal.

Tottenham star could be out for ‘several months’ with ‘serious’ injury

It’s another gutter punch for the Lilywhites.

His league win rate of 26.9 per cent is the worst of any Tottenham manager in Premier League history, while his overall record of 13 wins from 38 games represents a dismal failure for a club considered to be in the ‘big six’.

Spurs are currently facing their sixth permanent manager search in seven years, highlighting the chronic instability that has turned once-proud Champions League regulars into championship contenders.

Since Frank was handed P45, the Lilywhites board, which has already had a number of interesting director names rumored, is back to square one.

Tottenham are thought to be considering former Barcelona manager Xavi, along with Roberto De Zerbi, Oliver Glasner, Marco Silva, Andoni Iraola and former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino is seen as Tottenham’s front-runner, but the Argentine can only be re-hired after this summer’s World Cup, where he will take charge of hosts USA.

Meanwhile, former striker Robbie Keane remains in the slot for Spurs despite his previous managerial role at Ferencvaros and could be turned into a caretaker player until the end of the season.

After a potential stopgap, Pochettino could very well return to north London, with talkSPORT journalist Ben Jacobs sharing the latest updates.

Luiz’s family wants Pochettino back at Tottenham

This afternoon, Jacobs wrote for GiveMeSport, reporting that members of the Luiz family are backing Pochettino as the front-runner to take over as Tottenham manager.

As for Pochettino’s possible reappointment, there is apparently “remarkable support” within Tottenham and within the Luiz family, with the Argentine being seen as a “strong candidate” behind the scenes.

However, there is still no guarantee that the former PSG and Chelsea manager will return, with Spurs wanting to carry out an extensive management process, which could mean hiring an interim manager in the meantime.

The 53-year-old, who won the Ligue 1 title with PSG, led Tottenham to a shock Champions League final in 2019 despite receiving no backing from former president Daniel Levy over the move.

Despite making few new signings to revamp the squad, the ‘genius’ Pochettino still managed to achieve consecutive top-four finishes and is undoubtedly Tottenham’s best manager in the Premier League era.

He deserved a silver medal for all his efforts, but now he gets a second chance to make history in N17.
