Following the recent departure of Thomas Frank, Tottenham Hotspur are now looking to sign a “fantastic” manager who won two league titles.
Tottenham look for new manager after Frank is sacked
Tottenham decided to sack Frank on Wednesday morning after a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United was the final straw, but while changes at the top are important, Jamie O’Hara believes the club needs to make a complete change.
Spurs urgently need to improve their results as they are just five points off the Premier League relegation zone and could find themselves embroiled in a relegation battle, with work underway to appoint a new manager.
Xavi, Roberto De Zerbi and Gareth Southgate have all been floated as potential targets, but Ryan Mason is also being considered, with ENIC potentially opting to bring in an interim manager until the end of the season.
However, Mason is not the only option, with the Telegraph reporting that Tottenham are likely to appoint an external candidate if they bring in a caretaker manager, with Ferencvaros manager Robbie Keane considering replacing Frank.
However, Keane recently signed a contract extension with the Hungarian club, so ENIC will have to pay compensation if they move to sign him.
Appointing a former player as caretaker manager has certainly had a positive impact on Manchester United, with Michael Carrick scoring 13 goals in his opening five Premier League games, and there are signs that the former striker could have a similar impact at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
‘Fantastic’ Keane on his way to becoming a top manager
The Irishman has been praised for the work he has done in Eastern Europe with Ferencvaros, with Nigel Reo-Coker recently saying he had done a “fantastic” job.
The Green Eagles are undoubtedly the biggest club in Hungary, so we can certainly say that the young coach knows how to cope with the weight of managing a big team.
Not only that, the 45-year-old certainly knows how to win, having already won two titles, winning the Hungarian League last season and the Israeli Premier League with Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2023-24.
The former Tottenham striker has followed a slightly different path, but has had an impressive track record as a manager so far.
Robbie Keane’s managerial record | |

Keane now has management experience and could be a guaranteed interim appointment between now and the end of the season.
