  • Pochettino made Tottenham a competitive team
  • Spurs are struggling to find the right manager

Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has expressed an interest in becoming manager of the Premier League club again, according to Football Insider.

He is currently the coach of the U.S. national team and is preparing for this year’s World Cup.

Expectations and buzz around the national team are high at the moment, with America being one of the hosts, and Pochettino wants to be part of that history.

But while Pochettino is ready to return to the Premier League after sacking Tottenham manager Thomas Frank this week, Spurs will have to wait until the summer when the manager finishes his international duties.

For Spurs fans, Pochettino is more than just a former manager, he’s someone whose time in north London is fondly remembered at the club.

Pochettino made Tottenham a competitive team

The 53-year-old manager led his team to the Champions League final and was also in the Premier League title race several times.

Pochettino has transformed Spurs from a soft touch to the fittest team in the Premier League.

He didn’t just buy stars, he built them. Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Eric Dier became the backbone of the England team under his tutelage, embodying a courage fans had not seen for decades.

Winning the Champions League is the most famous memory, but the 2016/17 season was perhaps the highest level of football Tottenham have played in the Premier League era.

Since he left Spurs, managers such as Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Franck have all taken charge of the team, but they have all failed to have the desired impact.

Frank’s tenure has left the club in the relegation zone, so perhaps the board is looking for someone who can instantly unite a divided fan base.

Pochettino can do that. He can unite the club on and off the pitch, but it all depends on what Tottenham want.

Although they will have to wait until the summer to appoint Pochettino, the reality is that they need someone now who can move them further away from the relegation zone in the Premier League table.
