Fed up with departure chatter, Raiders DE Maxx Crosby shoots back: “I really don’t care what people say”

Las Vegas edge rusher and multiple-time Pro Bowler Maxx Crosby has found himself under scrutiny after reports claimed his contract with the Raiders has concluded. Since the season ended, speculation that Crosby would leave Las Vegas has grown louder — something he hears but clearly dislikes. He shrugged off the chatter, saying rumors are inevitable for players in the spotlight, that he gets messages asking if he said certain things and that he can’t control what people say. Crosby also suggested that scrutiny comes with success and that negative narratives intensify when a team struggles, though he tried to downplay how much the gossip affects him.

On the field, Crosby has been one of the Raiders’ most consistent playmakers: five Pro Bowl selections in seven seasons, four campaigns with double-digit sacks, and a career-high 14.5 sacks in 2023 that helped him finish fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting. A fourth-round pick in 2019, he burst onto the scene with 10 sacks as a rookie and was the runner-up for Defensive Rookie of the Year. Last offseason he signed a three-year, $106.5 million extension with Las Vegas, but if he becomes available this offseason he would be one of the most sought-after pass rushers on the market. Despite finishing the 2025 campaign on injured reserve with a knee issue, Crosby appeared in 15 games, posted 73 tackles and 10 sacks, and earned his fifth Pro Bowl nod.

Fan take: This matters because Crosby is a bona fide game-wrecker whose potential move would reshape pass-rush hierarchies and could swing playoff odds for contenders. Beyond roster impact, the situation highlights how contract uncertainty and media narratives now play a big role in roster decisions and team identity across the league.
