Manuel Gonzalez took the lead in a Moto2-timing practice session, breaking his own new record lap from FP1 to Q2, ahead of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on the best Friday hour in front of round 7.

The Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP Rider began the day at a record-breaking pace. And a large group was waiting for towing a few laps in a large group waiting for him on track, looking for towing – which ruined his previous red sector efforts.

The effort drove away his teammate Senna Agius, who was on top shortly after Philip Salak hit the top of the timesheet.

Salak was the early waterfall on his elf mark VDS bike. His return to the track saw him finish 17th with just a few minutes remaining and then left to the top of it, heading back to laps with teammate Jake Dixon again to laps, where he scored a top three finish on Friday.

Diogo Moreira moved for 15 to 3 minutes and 3 minutes remaining, but Gonzalez was pushed back only to Italtrans’s fourth.

Barry Bartos was the fifth best time and was the best of the Reno Sonego riders of Fan Racing. Asper rider Daniel Horgado took over as the sixth top rookie.

FP1 saw Sasaki in the 22nd, the more predicted session, but in the timing session, we saw a major shift in the fortunes of RW -Idrofoglia Racing GP Rider, enjoying one of the best sessions since moving to Moto2 at 7am.

Dixon came in eighth ahead of Mark VDS’s home round. Joe Roberts also finished second in the session.

Jorge Navarro once again pushed the bike ahead to his limits and placed it in the top ten of the Klint Factory team.

Ivan Ortola had shown the 11th most powerful rookie for the QJ Motor-Frinsa-MSI. Deniz Oncu was very late to climb to the second quarter location, sacrificing Marcos Ramirez to raise the final lap from 22nd to 12th.

The final automatic progression slot was 22nd when Blue Crew Pramac Yamaha and Albert Arenas went to Izan Guevara on the 13th.

Ramirez was not the only rider to miss, leading to a stacked Q1 with plenty of progressive candidates.

Aron Kane was fourth when he lost the rear in turn 5. Fantic Rider saw the time in his knee, pushed out by the arena just before the checkered flag, slipped.

Tony Alborino had fallen to 19th place with his Pramac Yamaha Motro 2 ride, and Celestino Vieti suffering from a similar fate on his betatool speed bike.

In previous FP1 sessions, Gonzalez took over at the top by breaking an old rap record. After just one session he left him with 0.811 over his closest rival Dixon.

The top 3 was completed by Canette ahead of the top 5 Agius and Sarac. Navarro made a strong early show for the forward in sixth place, but top rookie Alonso led to seventh place just a little further away from Gonzalez’s record pace.

Mario Aji had a physical problem. Mario Aji did not set time on FP1 and was later declared unfit to continue the Silverstone meeting.

Collin Veijer was absent after the training accident and has not been replaced by a Red Bull KTM Ajo. Italtrans is also one of the riders’ teams in the UK round, with Adrian Huertas taking action.

Alex Escrig and Moto2 Paddock are still missing, but the forward enlisted in Daniel Munoz (24th) to fill up again.
