  • Eddie Hearn challenges Dana White’s ego over Zuffa Boxing championship announcement
  • Possible future collaboration between Eddie Hearn and Dana White

Eddie Hearn and Dana White’s relationship appears to be deteriorating following White’s move into the boxing world.

Shortly after the UFC president announced his commitment to boxing, Matchroom promoters expressed skepticism about the new venture. This reaction was notable given the previously strong rapport between Hearn and White. Recently, when White revealed plans to host his first title fight under the Zuffa Boxing banner, Hearn openly criticized the nature of the title being contested.

Eddie Hearn challenges Dana White’s ego over Zuffa Boxing championship announcement

Earlier this week, White announced that top contender Jay Opetaia will headline Zuffa Boxing 4, facing Brandon Glanton for the Ring Magazine and IBF World Cruiserweight titles. In addition to these world titles, the promotion will also crown its own Zuffa Boxing champion in each weight division.

Hearn, however, expressed displeasure with this approach, questioning White’s decision to introduce a Zuffa Boxing title within the sport. “Do you think I disrespect boxing enough to mention the Matchroom Boxing World Championship?” Hearn remarked during an interview with IFL TV. He added, “My ego is out of control, but even I can’t imagine going that far.”

The 46-year-old promoter further accused Zuffa of disrespecting boxing’s heritage by disregarding the longstanding sanctioning bodies that have shaped the sport for generations.

Possible future collaboration between Eddie Hearn and Dana White

Despite their current public disagreements, there remains a possibility that Hearn and White could join forces on an event down the line. White aims to build the profile of his promising young fighter and is eager to deliver a major bout under the Zuffa Boxing banner. This goal may require cooperation with other established promoters in boxing, including Hearn.

Fan Take: This unfolding clash between two of combat sports’ biggest promoters highlights tensions as UFC and boxing worlds collide. Fans should watch closely, as any future partnership—or continued rivalry—between Hearn and White could significantly influence the sport’s landscape and the promotion of top-tier boxing events.
