  • Harry Kane could reach 500 goals in 743 games
  • 100 of Harry Kane’s goals were penalties
  • Harry Kane is the all-time top scorer for both Tottenham and England.

Harry Kane scored his 500th career goal today in Bayern Munich’s 3-0 win over Werder Bremen, achieving the landmark in fewer games than Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 32-year-old is arguably one of the greatest strikers of his generation and has featured numerous times for not only Bayern, but also his former club Tottenham and the England national team.

Read on for some statistics and facts about Kane’s 500th goal after this monumental moment in his amazing career at the highest level.

For those interested, that’s 10 fewer games than Ronaldo has scored, but of course he’s so close to reaching 1000 career goals, which is frankly ridiculous, that I wouldn’t worry too much about that.

However, Lionel Messi achieved it faster, with the Barcelona and Argentina legend needing only 632 games to reach 500 goals.

Apart from Messi and Ronaldo, the only active soccer players with over 500 goals are Robert Lewandowski (690 goals), Luis Suarez (600 goals) and Karim Benzema (517 goals).

Kane was definitely Mr Reliable from the spot, so it might not be too surprising that one of his goals today was a penalty.

Harry Kane is the all-time top scorer for both Tottenham and England.

Kane has the privilege of being the all-time leading scorer not only for his national team, but also for one of his clubs.

The prolific frontman surpassed the legendary Jimmy Greaves towards the end of his Spurs career with a total of 280 goals for the North London club.

Kane also overtook Wayne Rooney as England’s all-time leading goalscorer, not long after the former Manchester United and Everton man himself overtook the legendary Bobby Charlton, a record that had long seemed secure.

But Kane is so far ahead now and still has a few years left to take his total goals tally for England to 78, so it will probably be a very long time before we see anyone else surpass him…

Kane may never be Bayern’s top scorer, but he’s certainly still a pretty impressive player, with just seven goals shy of breaking into the top 10, which isn’t bad considering he’s only halfway through his third season at the club.
