Arsenal forward Noni Madueke has heaped praise on Eberechi Eze following his “incredible” performance in the Gunners’ 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.

The north London side easily defeated their League One opponents at the Emirates Stadium, who were marred by a devastating first half.

Although Maduke scored the first goal, he was quick to point out that it was Eze’s creative flair that sparked the victory.

After the match, Maduke lavished praise on his teammates’ performance.

He told TNT Sports: “He was incredible today. He pulled all the strings from the middle and was involved in all the goals. I’m really happy for him.”

Eze came under intense scrutiny after being substituted early in the draw against Brentford in midweek, but he responded admirably.

The England international started off as a central playmaker, dismantling Wigan’s defense with a series of pin-accurate passes.

He directly assisted Arsenal’s first two goals, the first with a smart ball to Madueke in the 11th minute, and the second just seven minutes later with a well-weighted pass to Gabriel Martinelli.

Even when he wasn’t directly assisting, Eze’s movement and vision dictated the tempo of the game, demonstrating exactly why Mikel Arteta has had so much faith in him since his arrival from Crystal Palace.

Arsenal are doing well this season too.

An emphatic victory over Wigan further cemented the feeling that Arsenal are the team to beat this season.

The Gunners currently lead the Premier League table by four points and will advance to the League Cup final, where they will face Manchester City.

After a perfect performance in the Champions League group stages and a place in the FA Cup guaranteed, talk of an unprecedented quadruple title is starting to grow among Emirates fans.

Arteta’s ability to make eight changes and rotate his squad against Wigan without losing their competitiveness suggests this Arsenal have the depth and greed needed to compete for silver on all four fronts.
