  • Tottenham have no intention of letting Bergvall leave.
  • Premier League clubs interested in young midfielder

Tottenham have revealed Lukas Bergvall remains central to their long-term vision despite increased interest from their Premier League rivals.

According to The Athletic, Spurs rejected approaches during the January transfer window, while Aston Villa and Chelsea have inquired about signing the Swedish midfielder.

The message from north London was clear: Bergvall was not for sale.

The young midfielder has struggled to feature regularly in recent months and is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, but Tottenham’s bosses see him as key to their future.

His contract runs until 2031 and the club is under no pressure to accept an offer.

Tottenham have no intention of letting Bergvall leave.

Tottenham view Bergvall as part of a long-term project.

Bergvall arrived at Spurs amid considerable excitement, being regarded as one of the most promising players in the Scandinavian midfield.

His technical ability and composure in possession marked him early on, and Tottenham moved quickly to secure his signature amid interest from several European clubs.

There is a battle for top spots at Spurs, and Bergvall has struggled to maintain his starting spot this season.

Aston Villa and Chelsea took their chances in January. Villa’s recruitment strategy under Unai Emery has focused on adding youthful dynamism to complement their European ambitions, while Chelsea continue to invest heavily in emerging talent as part of a long-term team-building model.

But Tottenham’s response was swift and decisive.

Things were complicated by Bergvall’s recent ankle injury, which temporarily halted his momentum just as he was trying to re-establish himself in the rotation.

Despite this, the club’s medical and coaching staff are said to be confident in his recovery and long-term trajectory.

The Spurs’ decision to tie up his contract until 2031 shows the scale of their commitment.
