Arsenal hope to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old will be a free agent in the summer and has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur. However, Football Insider reports that Arsenal currently have an ‘advantage’ over Tottenham in the race to sign the Germany international.

Signing a player of his quality on a free transfer would be a coup for Arsenal. They will be able to bring more quality to the team and the 31-year-old will help the team further improve. The box-to-box midfielder adds physicality, defensive strength and drive in the middle of the park. He has proven himself in Germany over the years and has the qualities to succeed in England.

Apart from his qualifications as a football player, his leadership skills and winning experience could be invaluable. Arsenal are aiming to build a team that can win big trophies on a regular basis. They need a back-to-back winner like him. Goretzka has won 15 trophies with Bayern Munich since 2018. He has won major trophies including the UEFA Champions League and could be the ideal mentor for Arsenal’s dressing room.

Meanwhile, Tottenham need more quality in the center of the park. It will be interesting to see if they can beat Arsenal up to the German national flag. Arsenal are currently working the hardest to get this deal done.

They will certainly have an advantage in the race as they are likely to qualify for next season’s Champions League. Meanwhile, Tottenham are fighting to stay. The player may be reluctant to join a club that may not win major trophies.
