Kim Min Jae’s salary may become an issue.
The player earns £200,000 a week at the German club, which could pose a major problem for clubs hoping to secure his contract. It will be interesting to see if the Korean player accepts a decent salary to move to the Premier League.
Dean Jones told TEAMtalk: “It is true that Kim Min-jae is rumored to be with Chelsea and there is interest, but I have heard that the possibility of him transferring is still very low.
“I have the impression that Chelsea are more open-minded than they were previously when they were only considering young players. There is definitely a possibility that they will consider signing players with more experience and seniority.
“But at this point, we’re hearing that the relationship with Kim is just one of many deals they’re considering in the summer, and ultimately they’ll still be looking for good value.
“From what I understand, Kim has a good record at Bayern, being in the top 10 earners, but that makes it even more difficult for Chelsea to potentially consider a contract.”
Chelsea may use Min-jae
Chelsea have looked vulnerable at the back this season and need to improve there. Signing a quality defender could make a big difference for them. They are aiming to qualify for the Champions League and will need to improve their team if they are to challenge for the league title.
The Korean defender performed well in Italy and Germany. He has the physicality to be suitable for English football. The opportunity to play for Chelsea will be exciting for him.
