Caretaker manager Igor Tudor has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur’s other star has new “problems” ahead of Sunday’s north London derby against Arsenal.

Spurs could suffer a blow ahead of north London derby

Tudor will have his work cut out for Tottenham’s first game as manager, against Premier League leaders Arsenal, but Wolverhampton Wanderers showed they are capable of an upset after pulling off a dramatic 2-2 draw on Wednesday night.

However, the signs are certainly not encouraging as the former Juventus manager replaced Thomas Frank with the Lilywhites, who have not won in their last eight Premier League games and are just five points off the relegation zone.

Spurs have suffered seriously on the injury front and the new manager admitted he still has very few options ahead of this weekend’s tough fixture against their north London rivals.

So while Tudor could certainly make it through without any further setbacks, the 47-year-old admitted one of his key players is dealing with an issue ahead of this weekend’s game.

Asked if any of his currently injured players would be available for Sunday’s selection, the Tottenham manager said: “Probably no. Solanke has a throat problem, but he trained for two days. Everyone else, some next week.”

With Dominic Solanke available to train, it is assumed that the throat issue is not a major issue, but this would be welcome news given he could be key to Tottenham’s success against Arsenal…

Tottenham can’t do without Solanke

Richarlison continues to be sidelined with a thigh problem, with the Brazilian missing the last five Premier League games, while Randal Kolo Muani has been very poor in front of goal since signing for Tottenham.

In fact, the Frenchman has recently failed to score in 18 Premier League games and has been ranked as one of the worst signings of last summer’s transfer window.

A Premier League club has never spent more, but not every transfer is successful…

Solanke, meanwhile, has been in form at times since returning from a lengthy injury spell, scoring four goals in 11 games in all competitions, and the Englishman continued his solid form throughout his first season in north London.

Tottenham cannot afford to be without the former AFC Bournemouth striker this weekend, but given the scale of the injury crisis Tudor has been forced to deal with, it will actually be very difficult to get a positive result anyway.
