Leeds United are considering parting ways with Daniel Farke this summer ahead of spending big on a new contract, which will see them continue their battle with fellow relegation contenders Crystal Palace.

Leeds plan summer spree after Buonanotte struggles

A report by Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail shares some insight into the 49ers enterprise’s plans for Leeds over the next few years, with the American owners likely to be ambitious to look into the Premier League table rather than playing shoulder to shoulder.

Indeed, Keegan reports that Leeds bosses want to spend around £100m on new signings this summer after their only January signing, Facundo Buonanotte, failed to make an impact.

Speaking about Buonanotte’s struggles ahead of the match against Aston Villa, Falke said: “It’s always important not to get carried away by the expectations of the contract.”

“When you bring in a new player, there can be a lot of excitement and anticipation and that was the message I gave him when he arrived.

“We didn’t sign him to immediately improve the XI. We signed him to strengthen the depth of the team. We sent Jack Harrison and Harry Gray out on loan. We talked about that openly with Facundo. We want to make sure we keep the pressure high on other options.”

The Brighton youngster was sent off at half-time in his only start for Leeds and is expected to return to the south coast this summer as there is no option to make his contract permanent.

In his place, Leeds plan to spend around £100m to strengthen the squad, with a new goalkeeper and effective striker as key areas of focus, but it remains to be seen whether Farke will take on that responsibility.

Leeds set to compete with Crystal Palace for new manager

The 49ers group has aggressive plans for the next few years with Leeds, and with Falke having one year left on his contract, it’s still possible they will decide to make some changes to the dugout as they rebuild in the summer.

Falke currently has a big say in his contract, but negotiations over a contract extension have not yet begun and owners are considering terminating his contract 12 months early.

Football FanCast insiders understand their decision could be influenced by the fact that they expect to shop in the same managerial market as Crystal Palace, who will soon part ways with Oliver Glasner.

Both teams believe they need a young, attacking-minded manager to take the club to the next level, with former RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose on their shortlist.

Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeness is also being considered, but the 43-year-old will be extremely difficult to lure given the team currently sit in the Bundesliga’s top four.

Ethan Ampadu Bogle

Leeds United must be wishing they had kept one talent at Elland Road right now.
