Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is an avid golfer and fan. He competed in the Players Championship, Masters, and also competed in the American Century Championship pro-am tournament.

He also remains loyal to his alma mater, Clemson, and when another former Tiger, Jacob Bridgeman, won the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., on Feb. 22, Lawrence congratulated Bridgeman on social media.

Jacob Bridgman tees off on the eighth hole during the second round of The Players Championship PGA Golf Tournament at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Friday, March 14, 2025 (Corey Perine/Florida Times Union)

“Congratulations on your big win at Genesis,” Lawrence said in a video posted on the PGA Tour’s X site. “I watched everything I could all day today. I’ve been following you… It’s been a lot of fun watching you all weekend. You’re playing great. It’s been really fun to watch. We’ve got to go out there and play some golf soon. It’s not that fun to watch you play. It’s not that fun to watch you play. Keep killing.”

Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney also sent Bridgeman a video of his congratulations. Both videos were sent by Lawrence and Swinney in time for tour publicists to play them for Bridgeman in a press conference following his one-shot wins over Rory McIlroy and Kurt Kichiyama.

Bridgman and Lawrence are both 26 years old and have birthdays exactly two months apart. Both are Clemson University athletics ACC Player of the Year honorees (Bridgeman in 2022, Lawrence in 2020) and both hold or share the Tigers’ winning record. Bridgeman is tied for the most golf tournament wins at Clemson University with five, while Lawrence has the most wins (34) and highest winning percentage (.944) as a starting QB.

Bridgman said he and Lawrence were at Clemson at the same time, and it was clear on campus who was the bigger player.

“Trevor and I were the same age at Clemson, but he was so famous even before he got to school that he couldn’t hang out with anyone,” Bridgman said. “I’ve met and talked to him a few times. He’s a very nice guy. I’ve been a fan of his throughout his NFL career. I’m very happy that he had a great season this past year and almost won MVP. He’s a really, really nice guy. I’m glad he was watching. It’s very special that he sent it.”
