  • Dad’s comments spark interest in Liverpool
  • Reds could make move for new right-back

Liverpool’s summer plans reportedly extend to Galatasaray’s Roland Szaray, with the Hungary international’s father revealing he has been contacted about a possible move.

Although no formal bid materialized, the comments sparked intrigue, especially given Sarai’s versatility and Liverpool’s current needs.

Sarai, 28, is not a traditional developmental player.

Instead, he represents a mature and adaptable profile, able to quickly add depth to multiple roles.

Tibor Szalai spoke to Hungarian media outlet Brik about the growing speculation.

“Lori feels good here, he loves the club and he doesn’t want to leave at all costs, but I think he still has a big step left in his career. It’s a really big club,” Tibor Salay told Brick.

“From here he can only sign with a team that can truly sign him to one of the top teams in the world. Liverpool could be such a destination and I admit that I would not be surprised if this club change happened now.”

These comments suggest that while the player is happy at Galatasaray, joining Liverpool is a career-defining opportunity.

Szalai joined Galatasaray in 2024 after impressing as an attacking winger for Freiburg and the Hungarian national team.

However, this season he was reassigned primarily as a right-back, a transition that increased his defensive awareness without compromising his attacking instincts.

The evolution of this position is particularly important. Liverpool are in a precarious situation on the right side of defence, and Saraj’s combination of forward thrust and defensive discipline could provide a flexible solution.

If Liverpool move to sign him, his existing chemistry with Hungarian team-mates Dominik Szoboszlai and Milos Kerkes could play a role.

Whether this link develops into a permanent signing will depend on whether Liverpool need a new right-back this year.
