Tottenham are considering the possibility of appointing the Arsenal legend as their next permanent manager, replacing Mauricio Pochettino, according to a new report.

Life plans for Tottenham manager Igor Tudor

The Spurs’ season became a slow-motion disaster.

16th in the Premier League, just four points above the drop zone, one of the most embarrassing recent records in the club’s history.

A 4-1 defeat in Igor Tudor’s first game as caretaker manager didn’t help things at all, and his arrival was announced despite a car accident in the north London derby against Arsenal.

The reality faced by everyone associated with this football club is harsh. Spurs are in a relegation battle and it is important for them to survive now.

Tudor’s task is enormous. He inherited a team lacking confidence and lacking leadership, which had succumbed under Thomas Frank before the board completely ran out of patience.

The Lilywhites are facing the loss of their star centre-half.

This team has quality and can compete on the day, but the consistency was non-existent, the goals dried up and the performances often lacked intensity.

Planning for next season is already well under way behind the scenes, and the list of potential summer manager candidates is growing by the week.

Mauricio Pochettino continues to be a name that resonates deeply in the hearts of Spurs supporters.

The Argentine built the club’s modern identity during his time in north London, leading them to the Champions League final in 2019 and establishing himself as a genuine top-four regular.

A return has been widely discussed, with respected journalist Henry Winter recently confirming that Pochettino is the club’s clear first choice, but there are complications surrounding both his availability and the approvals needed to make a deal happen.

Roberto De Zerbi has also been named in that slot, with the former Brighton manager bringing a progressive and energetic style that makes a statement of purpose.

But a truly surprising name has joined the conversation.

Tottenham considering Arsenal legend Cesc Fabregas as manager

According to TEAMtalk and journalist Graham Bailey, Cesc Fabregas has emerged as a candidate being discussed at Spurs’ highest level.

Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Fabregas has had a remarkable career as manager of Serie A side Como, leading his team, once in the second tier, to sixth place and steadily rising to the top of European football.

Real Madrid prospects Nico Paz and Jacobo Ramon have both developed under his guidance, and he has received widespread praise for his ability to develop young talent.

Bailey reports that Fabregas is open to taking the Tottenham job, with the Lilywhites considering him as well, and his obvious Arsenal links present no barriers.

He has spent most of his playing career in England, has strong ties to London and understands the Premier League environment.

Chelsea considered him as a candidate even before appointing Liam Rosenior, and Man City are also eyeing him as a potential successor to Josep Guardiola, so the competition for him is real.

Fabregas made 303 appearances for the Gunners as a player, winning the FA Cup with north London, and his potential appointment will no doubt raise a few eyebrows.

TEAMtalk also reports that Newcastle’s Eddie Howe and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola are both being discussed internally, with Iraola now set to sign a new contract at the Vitality Stadium, effectively announcing his resignation.

The long list is impressive, but the problem for Spurs is that none of it matters unless Tudor can keep Spurs in the Premier League in the first place.
