The England international has been plagued by injuries since joining Manchester United from Chelsea a few years ago, and it’s no wonder his future is in some doubt.

Speaking to Football Insider, Mick Brown says Villa have been interested in Mount for some time and it wouldn’t be surprising if they remain interested in him.

Mount will probably end up playing more regularly at Villa Park than Old Trafford, which could make the move attractive enough for the 27-year-old.

Brown said he had also heard very positive things about Mount and said there was a good chance Villa would want to try their luck with him even if he wasn’t at his best.

Regarding Mount’s future, Brown told Football Insider:

“He has a very good reputation and is highly regarded at Man United.

“Everyone I have spoken to has said what a great trainer he is, he works very hard and his overall attitude at the club and in the dressing room is good.

“It’s always good to hear that opinion when you’re considering players because it’s important to bring in people with the right attitude and application.

“I’ve heard that Aston Villa have been interested in him for some time and I’m sure he still remains on their radar, and teams like Fulham will also be looking to see if he’s available.”

Should Manchester United let go of Mason Mount?

United fans will be divided on what to do with Mount at this stage as he is clearly not living up to his potential, but he may still have the ability to turn things around.

With a little more luck with his fitness and more opportunities to show what he’s capable of, Mount could definitely make a big impact for MUFC.

Of course, there is a risk that Mount could revive his career at Villa, but this would mean United strengthen one of their main top-four rivals.
