Arsenal are in the market for a new right-back this summer, with European clubs interested in signing Gunners defender Ben White.

As first reported in my exclusive article for the Daily Briefing, three main names have been floated as targets for Arsenal’s right-back position.

The Gunners’ preference is thought to be Sporting Lisbon’s technically gifted young Spaniard Iván Fresneda, but two Premier League stars are also on the club’s radar.

Those are Brentford’s Michael Caiode and Newcastle’s Tino Livramento, but there are no concrete negotiations yet on their contracts.

White is currently solely focused on the remainder of the season at Arsenal, but it’s no wonder the club are keeping an eye on his situation.

Although he cannot yet name any specific teams that may be interested in him, it is understood he has fans across Europe and is worth around £30m.

Fresneda is currently thought to be the perfect replacement for White, and Arsenal have been eyeing Fresneda for some time.

The 21-year-old has continued to develop during his time at Sporting and looks like an ideal fit for what the AFC are looking for in a bid to compete with Julian Timber for a place in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI.

Many Gooners will be disappointed to see White leave, but he has struggled for minutes this season, starting just 13 games in all competitions.

Who should Arsenal sign at right-back?

Fresneda look like a perfect style fit for Arsenal, but it is not yet clear whether they will definitely sign him, as some may feel they would be better off choosing a player with a proven track record in the Premier League, such as Kayode or Livramento.

Kayode has been a hugely impressive player for Brentford, with the Bees being a club that tends to use star names frequently.

Livramento could be more difficult to land as Newcastle would certainly not need to sell and would require significantly more money to do so.
