  • West Brom in talks to appoint Ramsey’s replacement
  • Experienced Mowbray will lead West Brom to safety
        • Ramsey upgrade: ‘Bielsa student’ considers move for West Brom job

West Bromwich Albion are currently in contact with an experienced Championship manager to replace Eric Ramsey for the remainder of the season.

West Brom in talks to appoint Ramsey’s replacement

Almost everyone at the Hawthorns knew they were in trouble the moment Norwich City beat Ramsey’s West Brom side by five points in his second game in charge.

Things didn’t seem to get any better from there, and the ending was certainly inevitable for the Welshman. This is the second time this season that the Baggies have missed out on a big bet on a young manager.

So what’s next? Will they be able to get third time lucky? Or is it time to turn to experience? Recent reports suggest the Midlands could be looking at Will Still’s perfect mix.

The former Southampton manager may have struggled at St Mary’s, but his impressive form in France still leaves him with enough credibility to attract clubs like West Brom.

But he is not the only option the Baggies are reportedly eyeing. It’s been less than two years since Carlos Corberan left for Valencia and there may still be a way back to the club.

Of course, at the time of the Spaniard’s departure, West Brom were seventh and in contention to qualify for the play-offs for the second year in a row. Now he will return to a club staring at a shocking relegation threat.

Experience is also needed, and if that happens, there is a possibility that another former manager will return. According to Football Insider, West Brom are currently in preliminary talks to keep Tony Mowbray for the remainder of the season, starting his third spell at the club.

Experienced Mowbray will lead West Brom to safety

Now is not the time for West Brom to experiment. They just need to keep their next commitment in order, which is why Mowbray makes so much sense. He has quite literally been there and done it at The Hawthorns. In fact, twice.

The manager is reportedly considering whether to take up the vacant post at West Brom.

During his last spell, which began last season, the veteran manager never caused the Baggies to worry about relegation, but he also failed to live up to the Baggies’ play-off ambitions.

As a result, the club eventually relieved him of his duties. Now, with those ambitions in the distance, West Brom need a manager who puts results first.

Mowbray is one of the EFL’s most accomplished managers. The 62-year-old, who has 195 Championship wins, could work his magic to lure West Brom to safety before making way for a long-term option in the summer.
