  • Michael Carrick made an immediate impact at Man United
  • Carrick could be the ideal manager for the Red Devils

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Michael Carrick is set to become the club’s next permanent manager.

Manchester United’s turbulent season took another dramatic turn in January when manager Ruben Amorim parted ways after a disappointing 14 months in charge.

The decision, described by many as unavoidable after a long period of inconsistent performances, leaves the Red Devils looking for stability once again.

United ultimately appointed former midfielder Michael Carrick as interim head coach until the end of the season.

What was initially seen as a short-term solution quickly evolved into something much more promising.

Michael Carrick made an immediate impact at Man United

Carrick’s influence was immediate and tangible. Results have improved, performances have sharpened, and perhaps most importantly, the atmosphere in the dressing room has changed dramatically.

Romano revealed on his YouTube channel that “the atmosphere surrounding Carrick is becoming increasingly positive” within the club hierarchy.

Romano explained:

“Manchester United have played seven Premier League games under manager Michael Carrick, winning six and drawing one.

“The atmosphere in the team is great and the players are very happy with Carrick.

“Nothing has been decided regarding the permanent coach for the summer of 2026.

“But with each passing week, the atmosphere around Carrick is becoming more and more positive.

“When Manchester United decided to part ways with Ruben Amorim and give Carrick a chance, they expected him to do well, but not at this level.

“There is now a feeling internally that Carrick has a real chance to become the next permanent manager.

“It hasn’t been decided yet, but there is a chance and he has surprised everyone at the club.”

This performance, with six wins and one draw from seven league games, not only reinvigorated United’s top-four ambitions, but also restored confidence among supporters who had grown dissatisfied under Amorim.

Carrick’s tactical tweaks, including a more compact midfield structure and quicker transitions in wide areas, have drawn praise from pundits across the Premier League.

Beyond the numbers, there is a sense that Carrick understands the cultural demands of Old Trafford.

Having spent more than a decade at the club as a player and then as part of the coaching staff under the previous regime, he has an organizational knowledge that few external candidates can match.

His approachability seems to have resonated with both senior players and academy graduates, many of whom have grown up under his calm and methodical leadership style.
