  • Man United ready to make changes in midfield
  • Newcastle United’s stance and contract status

Manchester United’s anticipated midfield rebuild this summer could clearly be influenced by Brazil.

According to AS, Casemiro has recommended the club pursue Newcastle United star Bruno Guimarães as a potential successor in the heart of midfield.

United are reportedly looking to sign up to three midfielders in the upcoming transfer window, with Guimarães emerging as one of the players under consideration.

The report has drawn further attention ahead of a period of change at Old Trafford, with structural reforms and a shake-up of the team expected to dominate the agenda.

Speculation is mounting about Casemiro’s own future.

The former Real Madrid anchor remains an influential figure in the dressing room, but injuries and fluctuations in form have put his long-term role in the starting XI in doubt.

Succession planning has become inevitable as United look to inject more dynamism and stability into their midfield.

Bruno Guimarães is a player who represents the profile that suits the club’s needs in midfield.

Since joining Newcastle from Lyon in January 2022, he has developed into one of the most complete midfielders in the Premier League.

The Brazil international has played in 189 games, scoring 31 goals and providing 31 assists.

A move for Guimarães would be difficult for Man United.

The 28-year-old is under contract at St James’ Park until 2028 and Newcastle are reportedly keen to secure an extension to avoid interest.

The club’s financial strength and ambitions mean there is little pressure to sell, especially as it continues to seek consistency in Europe.

Newcastle view Guimarães as the centerpiece of a long-term project, so a hefty transfer fee is likely to be demanded in negotiations.

Backing Casemiro would further increase United’s interest, but praising Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle would be an important statement of intent.
