Dermot Gallagher talks about Jacob Ramsey’s red card
Newcastle will be pleased that this decision did not cost them too much in the match. They had to play 45 minutes without key players and could have easily lost valuable points. The manager will be frustrated by the situation and the players will understand that they made a mistake. It will be interesting to see if he can learn from this experience and bounce back strong.
Ramsey has been an important player for Newcastle since joining the club and is keen to establish himself as a force for the club. He was also a very good player for Aston Villa.
There is speculation as to whether the officials made the right decision.
Dermot Gallagher explained on Sky Sports’ Ref Watch (h/t Chronicle):
“Does he need to do that? Did he get caught? No. He’s fallen so low after the incident, but I don’t think he needs to. I also suggest that if he hadn’t been given a yellow card for that, people would have been screaming and saying they didn’t want to dive. So Peter Banks took a positive step, so bring him back.”
Newcastle win despite Ramsey receiving red card
Newcastle won 2-1 against Manchester United thanks to William Osla’s late goal. He’s been in very poor form over the last few weeks, but the win against Manchester United will be a big confidence booster.
It’s going to be interesting to see if they can build on that and finish the season on a strong note.
