  • Manchester United have long-term interest in midfielder

Manchester United are continuing to track the development of Chelsea midfielder Andrej Santos as they assess the possibility of adding to the center of the pitch ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the Red Devils remain interested in the 21-year-old Brazilian, whose development at Stamford Bridge has attracted attention across the Premier League.

Santos has emerged as an increasingly important part of Chelsea’s midfield under manager Liam Rosenior.

His rise has seen him become one of the club’s most important young players, as well as attracting the attention of clubs looking for dynamic midfield talent.

Santos’ career trajectory has been closely linked to Rosenior’s in recent seasons.

The pair previously worked together during the Brazilian’s loan spell at Strasbourg, where the midfielder made his breakthrough in Ligue 1.

Santos scored 10 goals that season, helping Strasbourg qualify for the UEFA Conference League, and establishing himself as one of the league’s best young midfielders.

After returning to Chelsea, Santos initially struggled to gain consistent playing time under former manager Enzo Maresca.

His first first-team appearance for the club came at the FIFA Club World Cup, but regular appearances proved difficult to come by in the early stages of the season.

The situation changed dramatically with the arrival of Rosenior.

Manchester United’s interest in Santos is not entirely new. Jacobs reports that the club investigated his situation for the first time during previous negotiations between the two teams that included Alejandro Garnacho.

United’s recruitment team are currently analyzing midfield options as part of their ongoing rebuild.

However, it remains unclear whether Chelsea will consider selling him.

The London club reportedly rejected an approach from Saudi Pro League side Al Qadosia last summer, although several European teams also expressed interest.
