The Friedkin Group has now dispatched Everton officials in the race to sign the impressive forward, who won the Under-20 World Cup in October.
Everton enter race to secure U20 World Cup winner
The Toffees have quietly enjoyed an excellent season under manager David Moyes and could potentially sneak into European contention with nine games remaining.
As it stands, Everton are just five points behind rivals Liverpool after defeating Burnley in midweek, with one game remaining in the Merseyside derby at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Of course, Moyes will be up against a familiar face in Mikel Arteta as Everton take on Arsenal next. The champions-elect are looking to move closer to Premier League glory, but the Toffees have lofty ambitions of their own.
European football will soon be encouraging for everyone involved at the club. On the field, it will give Hill Dickinson the platform he deserves. Off the field, Friedkin will have the chance to bring in his best addition to date.
To that end, several potential targets have already emerged, including Christoph Baumgartner. The RB Leipzig midfielder has been sensational in the Bundesliga, having been involved in 17 goals, and could be on his way to Merseyside.
Given that Jack Grealish is currently on track to return to Manchester City rather than make the move permanent, Baumgartner would be the perfect successor to his creative brilliance.
But he is not the only name left on Everton’s shortlist. According to Sports Boom, Friedkin has dispatched Everton officials to the race to sign Osman Maamma.
The Watford winger won the Under-20 World Cup with Morocco in October and did enough to attract the interest of both Everton and Brentford.
Maamma, 20 years old, is a player to watch.
Maamma is still far from finished, but he is part of a long line of talented Moroccan players who are starting to emerge. That’s exactly why they won the U20 World Cup, and that’s exactly why Everton are interested now.
Everton set to sign ‘phenomenal’ star who has scored more goals in the Champions League than Beto and Barry combined
The Toffees are keen to sign a new striker.
Watford will be well aware of the talent they have. Maamma has scored four goals in the Championship this season and added one more, but his best days are yet to come.
The winger received a lot of praise from the likes of Jacek Kulig after winning the U20 World Cup. The talent scout hailed his “amazing” tournament, which featured some crucial goal ties.
The 20-year-old is set to make an immediate impact when he joins Everton this summer, but he is also a promising player. Securing a signature now would be a genius move for Friedkin as he invests in a future star.
