West Ham United face the possibility of losing their star player, who scored 24 goals for Premier League rivals Leeds United this summer.

Nuno admits Fulham win was a ‘special’ night

West Ham United are doing everything they can to avoid relegation, with the Hammers remaining outside the relegation zone on goal difference after defeating Fulham on Wednesday.

A result next weekend could put Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in a safe situation with eight games remaining. And what makes it even better is that it could be Tottenham Hotspur who suffer catastrophic consequences as a result.

Nuno was understandably delighted with West Ham’s win over Fulham, telling reporters at full-time: “It’s a special night because we played a good game against a very good team with a great manager and great players in a very tough stadium.

”We know how difficult it is to come here and achieve results. That’s what makes us the happiest. We don’t measure beliefs. We always have faith and we always have hope. What we need is improvement. Today was a very important day for us, but the situation remained the same. Nothing has changed. More was needed from all of us. ”

Survival will come as a huge relief to those at the London Stadium, who fear the impact of the Championship on and off the pitch.

If they don’t survive, Leeds United could have the biggest advantage in the race to sign Troy Parrott. According to Sport Boom, West Ham are now concerned that Leeds could hijack their plans to sign the Republic of Ireland striker this summer.

Leeds and West Ham compete for Troy Parrott

It’s easy to see why Premier League scouts were sent to monitor Parrott. He led the Republic of Ireland into the World Cup play-offs in the last international break and has continued to give his all for Dutch side AZ Alkmaar ever since, scoring 24 goals in all competitions this season.

Talent scout Jacek Kulig says Parrott has already had one “fantastic” move and could now return full circle to the Premier League. The former Tottenham Hotspur striker would also be a perfect fit for Daniel Farke.

The Leeds manager switched to a 3-5-2 formation midway through this season and has reaped the benefits ever since. Finding a partner for Calvert-Lewin in the starting two should be a priority this summer, especially if Parrott is available for a reported £17m.
