Ibrahima Konate wants to sit out
Konate will become a free agent at the end of the season, but has no intention of signing a new contract with Liverpool. Meanwhile, the newspaper claims that Liverpool are not too keen on signing a replacement for Nico Schlotterbeck. It will be interesting to see if the German defender is ready to sign a new contract with Borussia Dortmund.
He has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months. The transfer fee would be around 40 million euros, but Liverpool do not appear to have any intention of signing him. It will be interesting to see if they decide to move on for other players in the summer. They need more quality and depth in their central defensive unit.
Will Liverpool be able to properly replace Konate?
It remains to be seen how they will fill the void left by Konate in the summer. The France international has been a key player for the club since his arrival and would be a great signing if Real Madrid were able to secure his presence. Signing a player of his quality on a free contract could be a masterpiece.
Liverpool will need to improve defensively if they want to compete for major trophies next season. Signing a quality central defender to replace the France international will be an absolute priority for them.
