They were less successful in the trophy front than the current Tottenham Hotspur team, but it’s safe to say that the Side Mauricio Pochettino built by Mauricio Pochettino is on the best side we’ve ever seen in modern times.

From front to back, the team was full of simple sensational players who should have won at least some major honors during North London.

People like Harry Kane and his young son Hyun Min gave the opposition defenders nightmare, while Yang Vertonhen and Toby Alderweireld did the same to the opposition attackers.

But, undoubtedly, the most talented player on that team was Mousa Dembélé, and now it appears that Ange Postecoglou is brewing his own version of the Belgian.

Mousa Dembélé’s Spurs Career

Dembele joined Tottenham in the summer of 2012 from Fulham’s peers on the Premier League side for just £15 million.

It didn’t take the former cottage star to settle into life with Lily White for long, and in his debut he scored the club’s first goal – a 1-1 draw to Norwich City.

He finished his first campaign in North London with two goals and five assists to his name in 44 appearances, and while he watched the part he only improved when Pockettino was in charge ahead of the following season.

Under Argentina, Antoipene-born Titan became all-action “monster” dubbed by Eric Deer, and is remembered as he is today.

It is virtually impossible to remove the ball from him, and if he did not have it, you can be sure that he would do everything he could to win from the opposition – usually for great success.

The 37-year-old icon was the engine on the Spurs’ side, and his teammates were grateful that he would be a massive understatement. Kyle Walker once described him as “the best player I’ve ever seen,” and Harry Kane calls him “incredible.”

After 249 appearances for the club, he scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists, and the midfield maestro finally joined the Chinese Super League in January 2019.

But some of his teammates would have hoped he would stay for the rest of the season. Kieran Tripie would later argue that the Spurs could have won the Champions League with him.

He may have done what the club’s new Dembele did for them against Manchester United on Wednesday night.

Spurs Star has become their new Dembele

Well, the first thing to say is that no one on the current Spurs team claims to be as good as Dembele.

However, there are young people who star on Wednesday night and have some of the features that can be seen as he evolves into the team’s latest Belgian version of Papématal Saar.

Senegal International joined Tottenham for around £14.6 million under the reign of Nuno Espirito Santo, and after spending the 2021/22 season on loans with the French side, he has continued to develop since.

Like the club’s previous No. 19, the 22-year-old is primarily a central midfielder, but has the ability and flexibility to play in a defensive midfield, and sometimes he lifts the pitch a little.

From his theatrical style perspective, the “sensational” dynamo, called by Spurs content creator Tehtrunk, is constantly on the move. They are moving forward to help with attacks and to cover the ground to help with defense.

All of these properties were found in Bilbao. Spurs writer Alasdair Gold awarded a full-time 9/10 match rating for his “constant running display” and how well he did to “disband United’s play.”

Ultimately, I would never say that Sarr is on the same level as Dembélé, but I think that some of his games are very similar and with a few more years of development he can get closer.
