Leeds United are in talks to sign the ‘Unstoppable’ forward in the summer transfer window, with Premier League rivals Sunderland currently fearing a takeover.

Leeds compete with Sunderland over ‘unstoppable’ forward

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has already reached the 10-goal mark in the Premier League, but he has not been very productive in recent weeks, finding the back of the net just once in his last seven games.

Leeds, who have failed to win their last four games and only brought in attacking midfielder Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton in January, are currently in a precarious position, just three points above the relegation zone.

That’s despite the fact that Mick Brown suggested Los Blancos remain keen on signing a new centre-forward, saying:Leeds will still be hoping to sign a new striker.

“It’s easy to get caught up in recent results and Calvert-Lewin has been very impressive, but that doesn’t mean all the games where he hasn’t performed are wasted.”

“He’s been in good form and I hope he can keep that up for him too, but that doesn’t mean Leeds are ready to trust him.”

Leeds, who missed out on signing a new striker in the winter, are currently stepping up their pursuit of AC Milan striker Santiago Jimenez, and have recently begun initial negotiations, reports X journalist Sebastian Vidal.

Sunderland were already in talks to sign Jimenez earlier this season and now fear a takeover as they monitor the situation ahead of a potential transfer move this summer.

The 24-year-old is currently undergoing treatment due to an ankle injury, but enjoyed an excellent debut season with AC Milan, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 14 games last season.

‘Unstoppable’ Jimenez could be a great signing for Leeds

The centre-forward was prolific throughout his time in the Netherlands, scoring 65 goals and providing 14 assists in 105 appearances for Feyenoord, during which he was hailed as “unstoppable” by scout Jacek Kulig.

he had a great season.

The £77,000-a-week striker has had a tough season since then, failing to score in Serie A before being ruled out at the end of October, but his achievements so far suggest he could still be a great addition to Daniel Farke’s side.

Bringing in a new striker this summer could be a smart move, given Lucas Nmeka has only scored one goal in exhibition games in 2026 and Calvert-Lewin’s purple patch appears to be coming to an end.

However, given the uncertainty over the future impact of the Mexican player’s long-term ankle injury, which has kept him out of the last 19 Serie A games, Leeds are likely to continue with Jimenez at the helm.
