Delap joined Chelsea from Ipswich Town last summer but hasn’t had the best start to his career at Stamford Bridge, scoring just two goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.
However, Chelsea appear to remain confident that the 23-year-old will perform well, with injury problems largely to blame for his disappointing debut season, Sky Sports reported, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.
Chelsea fans will have mixed feelings about Delap’s latest transfer update. That’s because he seems to be out of his depth so far, but he should probably take a little more time to grow and improve.
Conflicting reports on Liam Delap’s Chelsea future as Man United remain keen on a move
As we recently reported, Delap continues to be on the radar of Manchester United, with the Red Devils being particularly keen on the England Under-21 international before he joined Chelsea.
Delap could be a good player, but CFC supporters will be keen to see their club prioritize players who can make an immediate impact.
But at the same time, it would definitely be a huge blow if the west London giants allowed Delap to move to a rival like Man United, where he would flourish.

Chelsea striker’s curse continues
Chelsea fans will be optimistic about Joao Pedro’s form this season, but most still continue to have a very hard time signing strikers.
Like Nicholas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku in recent years, Delap failed, but going back further, they brought in big names such as Romelu Lukaku, Alvaro Morata, Radamel Falcao and Gonzalo Higuain, but their performances fell short of expectations.
There is no doubt that building up around Pedro is something Chelsea should focus on right now, so Delap could still be a decent squad player or reserve, but some fans will also question the logic of keeping a player stepping up who just feels this move is too big.
