The Argentina international was one of the key signings of Todd Boley and Behada Egbali’s BlueCo project, but it looks like he may not be staying for the long term after all.
This comes from a report in L’Equipe, and it casts some doubt on Fernandes’ decision to end his long-term contract with Chelsea, as he prepares to face transfer hopefuls PSG in the Champions League this evening.
We previously covered interest in Fernandes moving from Real Madrid, and PSG are also likely to be a team to keep an eye on as they consider changes to their midfield.
PSG eyes move on Enzo Fernandes to build star-studded midfield
PSG already have some of the best midfield players in world football, such as Vicinha and Joao Neves, but there is probably still room for improvement.
Fernandes is likely to be an upgrade over Fabian Ruiz and Warren Zaire-Emery, but one would imagine he won’t come cheap as CFC won’t be too keen on letting him go.
In fact, according to a recent report from TEAMtalk, the Blues are keen to begin talks with both Fernandes and Moises Caicedo over new contracts.
Perhaps this is a message about the possibility of a club like PSG signing Fernandes, but cost aside, we firmly believe he is the perfect fit for the Parc des Princes…

Fernandes is one of the best midfielders in world football at the time, having won major trophies such as the Club World Cup and Europa Conference League with Chelsea and the World Cup with Argentina, making him almost ideal for the Ligue 1 giants’ needs.
His price will probably be an issue, but at 25 years old, he’s likely to reach his peak in the near future, so he could be a player worth paying over the odds.
