Speaking at a press conference on Friday afternoon, Rosenior was delighted with the news that James had committed his future to the Blues.
It’s clear that Rosenior thinks very highly of James and he couldn’t stop smiling when he saw the news, saying it meant Chelsea had secured the future of the best player in the world in his position.
CFC’s manager also hints that James turned down other clubs to remain with his current employers, so watch below…
Liam Rosenior talks about Reece James turning down opportunity to move elsewhere
“Well, I can’t stop smiling because we have secured the best player in world football in his position,” Rosenior told reporters.
“He had many opportunities to leave this great club and the good thing is that what he experienced from an early age was not just the size and stature of the club, but his belief and confidence in what we are doing here and where we want to go.”
“We talked about it a lot. For him to sign the contract and put his trust in us is a huge statement.”
Reece James bounces back from Enzo Maresca’s difficulties
Rosenior recently replaced Enzo Maresca as Chelsea manager, and it appears to have been a big boost for James.
The England international now considers himself to be at his best, but this time last year Maresca criticized him and questioned his ability to captain the club.
“For me, you’re the captain so you have to contribute more. You have to contribute more than the other players. I expect that from Reese and my teammates expect him to always contribute more in terms of leadership,” Maresca said of James.
Rosenior’s praise for James is eloquent and may indicate just how unsuited Maresca is for this team in many ways.
