Manchester United are looking to strengthen their midfield unit with the signing of Joao Gomez towards the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has performed well for Wolves in the Premier League and is expected to leave the club at the end of the season. They are the favorites in the summer and Gomez does not want to compete with them for the championship.

Manchester United focus on Joao Gomez transfer

According to Sportboom, Manchester United are willing to offer him a way out. They need more quality in the middle of the park and the 25-year-old Brazilian could be the ideal signing. Gomez could be an ideal replacement for Casemiro, who is set to leave the club.

The 25-year-old will add physicality, defensive cover and control to the team. The opportunity to play for Manchester United would be very exciting for him. It will be a big step up in his career and he will want to prove himself at a big club.

Newcastle also keen to sign Gomez

Meanwhile, Newcastle United are also interested in the player. They could use deeper space in the center of the park and Gomez would be an exceptional signing. He could form a strong partnership with Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães.

Both clubs have the financial power to complete a deal and would be an attractive transfer destination for the Brazilian. Where Gomez ends up remains to be seen. He is a reliable performer in the Premier League and could be an immediate asset at either Manchester United or Newcastle.

It remains to be seen whether either club can agree a reasonable contract with Wolves in the summer. Rumor has it that Gomez’s transfer fee could be around 40 million euros.
