Julian Alvarez open to return to England
Even if Barcelona are unable to reach an agreement with Atletico Madrid to sign the player, he would be able to return to the Premier League without any problems. The former Manchester City striker is ready to return to England and hopes to remain in London. Arsenal and Chelsea would therefore have a huge advantage in any race to sign the player. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop.
A source told TEAMtalk: “Barça have been told by Alvarez’s side that this won’t be a big fuss. They know that both Arsenal and Chelsea are ready and really want him.”
“It’s not about tactics that the Alvarez camp is negotiating with Arsenal and Chelsea, they are very serious. He is happy to move to London and join one of the biggest clubs in Europe. It’s not a problem for him, that’s clear.”
Chelsea and Arsenal need Alvarez
Chelsea need an upgrade from Liam Delap, who has not lived up to expectations. Alvarez would be an unusual acquisition. He has been prolific since moving to La Liga, proving his quality in England with Manchester City. He was also a star in his home country.
Alvarez has made 98 appearances for the Spanish club, scoring 45 goals and providing 15 assists.
At Arsenal, he could be an upgrade over Victor Gokeres, who has not scored consistently since his big-money move to Arsenal. The 26-year-old could be a game-changer for both teams offensively. It will be interesting to see where he ends up. The player’s transfer fee could exceed 100 million euros this summer.
