Tottenham Hotspur are currently competing with Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal to sign the “outstanding” set-piece specialist this summer.

Tudor: Tottenham can ‘cry or fight’ to stay in Premier League

Igor Tudor hasn’t held back since arriving at Tottenham. The Croats knew what was at stake and often spoke with full intent, only to watch as their team continued to experience defeat after defeat.

The 5-2 thrashing by Atlético Madrid pretty much summed it up, with Antonin Kinski being dragged off in humiliating fashion after enduring a 17-minute horror show.

Tudor initially made the change by removing out-of-form goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, but his second choice made things even worse. There were no wins for the interim boss in midweek.

Despite reports that Sunday’s loss to Liverpool could spell the end of his reign, Tudor is not giving up. He told reporters earlier this week that Tottenham could either cry or fight to maintain their top spot.

“It’s not an easy situation, it’s not an easy moment, and it’s a big challenge to change things. As with everything in life, you can choose how you look at the situation. So you can stop and cry, or you can fight.

“You can be a victim and you can say I can make a difference. That’s the message I want to start with and that’s what I told the players: Everybody has a voice, everybody has an opinion, life is always defined by your perspective. The bottle is always half empty or half full.”

Spurs are also planning a busy summer transfer window amid Tudor’s failure and managerial confusion with Robbie Keane and others left out. They are eyeing a set-piece specialist despite their Premier League status being at stake.

Tottenham vie for in-demand Kayode

Recently, the Premier League has placed emphasis on set pieces. That’s why Michael Cayode is the man in demand as Arsenal, the richest team in this brand new economy, are on the road to becoming champions.

According to reports in Italy, Tottenham are vying to sign Kayode this summer, along with Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal. The four teams have set their sights on a defender who is arguably the biggest long-throw threat in English football, if not Europe.

With the Premier League being a long-throw game, there was always going to be interest in the £40,000-a-week right-back, and Keith Andrews was aware of his abilities all season.

Brentford boss told reporters last month: “He plays very maturely, and you’re right, I’ve been saying this for quite some time, if someone was evaluating Michael and focusing on his long throws, that wouldn’t be right, it’s just a small part of his game.”

“He’s constantly evolving his game. He’s outstanding defensively and the way he deals with the high-level wingers we play week in and week out is really outstanding.”
