Rangers are set to sell one of their key players in Danny Rolle for an immediate profit this summer, with West Ham United scouts also taking note.
‘Great’ Roll says Rangers have belief in title
There is much more to come in this season’s Scottish Premiership. Hearts remain top of the league and on track for a shock title win, but a 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock left the door ajar for both Rangers and Celtic.
With just a few games remaining, Rangers currently sit three points adrift at the top of the table, with Celtic just two points behind. Scotland’s top teams are set for a dramatic title showdown to end the campaign in what looks to be an almost infinitely close contest.
Fewer touches than Butland: Rangers’ flop should not start again this season
This failure for Rangers must not start again this season after their performance against St Mirren.
While Hearts blinked, Rolle’s side remained resolute against St Mirren, securing a 1-0 win and putting a smile on their faces in the league table.
“Well, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a smile on my face after this (heart result), but this is normal,” Roll said. “But I know I have to deliver again next week.
“And now there are a few ups and downs. The team that consistently gets the right results until the end will win this league. Today we are happy. After three good performances, even though we didn’t get the right results, I think we got the result. That’s the most important thing.”
“When you go to a cup final, it’s important to win the game and today we won our first cup final. There was a lot of energy in the dressing room, which I felt when we met this morning. It was great.”
“There’s a lot of faith in our group and I have no doubt that we can achieve something this season, but we have to accept the result and today we did that. I think the standings are better now than they were before this game, which is great.”
But it’s not all good news for the Ger family. West Ham appear to have their sights set on signing one of their most important stars as their bid for the title continues.
West Ham send scouts to monitor Fernandes
As Alan Nixon reported on his Patreon, West Ham have put a direct check on Emmanuel Fernandes, with Rangers ready to cash in for the right price this summer.
It’s a big blow for Rohr, who has gotten the most out of his defenders since replacing Russell Martin. The 24-year-old faced some criticism at the start of his Rangers career, but has quickly become a mainstay and key player under the current manager.
So it’s easy to see why West Ham sent scouts to keep an eye on Fernandes. Their defensive performance against Manchester City at the weekend was impressive, but there is no doubt they could do with the upgrade the Rangers man would provide.
For the Rangers, the big question remains what exactly that “fair price” is. Considering they signed Fernandes for around £3 million, they will be looking to make a big profit this summer.
