According to Christian Falk in the latest CF Bayern Insider column, Lukba is being monitored by Bayern after his impressive performance in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig.

But Falk believes the deal could be more realistically affordable for Premier League clubs, which could be a boost for Liverpool and Man United.

Also, given that Dayot Upamecano recently signed a new contract at the Allianz Arena, Lukaba doesn’t necessarily seem like a player that makes sense as a priority for Bayern at the moment.

Regarding Lukba and a possible move to the Premier League, Falk pointed out that Leipzig players often end up staying in England, particularly Liverpool.

“It’s true: Bayern is keeping an eye on Castello Lucuba,” Falk wrote.

“Max Eberl knows the player well and likes the player. He previously worked at RB Leipzig. But at the moment it is not true that FC Bayern will sign Lukba in the summer.”

“The situation could change if Kim Min-jae is sold. Then we can invest the transfer fee. That’s why Lukba is still on the list.”

He added: “As you can see, RB Leipzig players often go to the Premier League. We have seen them a lot, especially at Liverpool! Look at Dominik Szoboszlai’s performance this season. This is one of the clubs that always focuses on such players.”

“A while back, Bayern bought Dayot Upamecano from Leipzig, which was a good decision. But you can’t always do deals like this and we know that Lukaba is an expensive player. So maybe they can find a deal for a 23-year-old centre-half in the Premier League.”

LFC are in particular need of a new centre-back this summer, with Ibrahima Konate nearing the end of his contract, while Virgil van Dijk is not getting any younger and is definitely starting to show signs of decline.

Lukaba would certainly get similar points at Manchester United, but Manchester United already have enough depth in central defense that there is probably less need for him.

However, depending on how the ongoing race for Champions League qualification goes, the Frenchman may prefer Old Trafford to Anfield.
