  • Tottenham start concrete approach towards promotion of Vicario
        • Tottenham are currently gathering information on a possible replacement for Igor Tudor in a 4-2-3-1 who could join before the summer.
  • Risser will end Vicario’s Tottenham career

Despite their precarious position in the drop zone, Tottenham Hotspur are currently preparing to sign Guglielmo Vicario as an upgrade this summer.

Tottenham start concrete approach towards promotion of Vicario

It’s been a good week for Tottenham – their best in a while. After saving a point against Liverpool at Anfield, they welcomed Atlético Madrid to North London that night and won 3-2. It wasn’t enough to overturn the 5-2 loss in the first game, but it was enough to advance further.

Next up is the biggest game of the season against Nottingham Forest. If they win, they will move within four points of the drop zone with seven games remaining. But if they lose, Igor Tudor’s side could effectively end up in the bottom three for the first time this season. It’s a weekend where you can feel the seasons.

Even if it wasn’t enough to advance against Atlético, Tudor was at least satisfied with what he saw in midweek. The interim manager told reporters: “Again, we have 11 (outfield) players again today and only one on the bench. One of them is (Kevin) Danso.”

Spurs have their sights set on the five-trophy winner.

“All three players – Bergvall, Udogi and Conor (Gallagher) – the doctors say they can play at least 20 minutes and at most 25 minutes. Imagine the situation and imagine the value of this win here. These things make this performance even more valuable.”

“It’s good to at least get a win at the end. It’s important for morale as well.”

Survival is the top priority and Spurs certainly believe they can achieve that, given they are already preparing summer transfers.

Inter Milan’s sporting director Piero Ausilio has traveled to London to begin talks for Vicario, and a French report from Sport Witness claims that Tottenham are now ready to begin making an approach for Robin Risser.

Risser will end Vicario’s Tottenham career

Much has been said in recent weeks about Tottenham’s goalkeeper position. Vicario is far from perfect, but the fact that Antonin Kinski was forgotten for 17 minutes in the first leg against Atletico Madrid means his number one spot is safe for at least the rest of the season.

However, while it is unlikely that his back-up will be an issue, there is a good chance that this summer will be the time for both player and club to part ways.

Meanwhile, Risser has played a key role in Lens’ shock title challenge this season, and they are now just one point behind French giants PSG with a game still in hand.

Vicario’s numbers were dire. His save percentage was much worse than Risser’s, and his goals prevented are less talked about. Risser prevented six goals, more than expected, but the Spurs goaltender allowed four more goals.

Described as “fantastic” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, the No. 1 lens is a clear upgrade and could mark the end of Vicario’s Tottenham career.
