Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness has warned that West Ham United could lose several key players in the summer if they are relegated at the end of the season.

West Ham are competing to remain in the Premier League, and attention will be focused on whether they can ensure safety during flights. They have several quality players at their disposal who would not want to compete in the second tier of English football.

They have to ensure the safety of those players to keep them at the club. If West Ham United are eliminated, players such as Matheus Fernandes, Jarrod Bowen and Crisencio Somerville could leave the club in the summer, according to the former Everton CEO.

He told Football Insider: “Certainly if we get relegated, he will be gone, Somerville will be gone too, that’s for sure.”

“He is attracting attention, he is performing very well, he has fought hard for West Ham, he has shown that he is a quality player and there is no shortage of suitors.

“But even if they survive, West Ham’s current difficult financial situation may mean they have to sell one of their big names anyway.

“And that’s the hard part. You’ll have Fernandez, Somerville, Bowen. Those are the names that are going to be on everyone’s lips in terms of what they’re going to do.”

Can West Ham survive the decline?

All three players have been linked with multiple clubs in recent months and it will be interesting to see where they go. There will be no shortage of clubs wanting to provide an outlet. The Hammers will have to do everything in their power to survive this decline.

There is no doubt that they have quality players at their disposal and they also have a quality manager. They should be doing much better than this season.
